Custom Field Mapping for Salesforce Scanning
Make any Salesforce object scannable by mapping barcodes or QR codes to custom fields for flexible automation and reporting.
Fully Flexible Configuration
Unaric Scan allows you to define exactly which fields respond to barcode or QR code scans.
By adding a custom text field with the API name SA_ID__c, you can make any Salesforce object scannable - from standard records like Contacts and Assets to custom-built or managed package objects. This gives you complete control over how and where scans map to your data.
Universal Object Support
There are no object-type restrictions with Unaric Scan. Whether you're working with native Salesforce objects or those introduced by third-party apps, all are supported as long as the scannable field is configured correctly.
The system checks for matches in any SA_ID__c field across your org, or uses the Salesforce Record ID if provided. You can re-use existing barcodes without changing your data model.
Simple to Maintain
Creating a scannable field takes just a few steps in Salesforce Setup.
Define a text field with a length of up to 120 characters, mark it as an External ID, and optionally set it as Unique for cleaner matching. If changes are made after deployment, users can refresh the cache within the Unaric Scan mobile app to recognize new fields - no reinstallation required.
Supports Advanced Logic
Custom field mapping lays the foundation for automation and reporting.
By aligning scannable fields with key identifiers like SKUs, external system IDs, or service tags, you can drive downstream processes such as task creation, validation rules, and audits. Combined with Salesforce Flows, mapped fields can become powerful inputs for business logic without requiring manual lookups or entry.
