Role-Based Access Controls

Control who can view, edit, or manage your org charts, with clearly defined user roles.

Feature Overview

Unaric Org Chart includes built-in access control that lets administrators assign specific roles to each user invited to a chart. This ensures that access is limited to what each collaborator needs to do, whether it's editing, viewing, or managing.

Roles and Permissions

Admin - Full access: can edit chart, manage users, delete charts, modify settings, and export.
Editor - Can edit org chart structure and content but cannot manage users or delete the chart.
Viewer - View-only access permissions mean the user can see the chart but cannot make changes or download content (unless permitted).

Benefits

Granular Access - Sign different roles per user to restrict or expand capabilities.
Chart-Specific Permissions - Roles are scoped to each chart - someone can be an Editor on one chart and Viewer on another.
Invite-Based Access - Only invited users can collaborate; invites expire after 24 hours to prevent unauthorized entry.
Role Upgrade/Downgrade - Admins can change a user’s role at any time (e.g., upgrade Viewer to Editor).
No Account Required (View-only) - For public/shared links, users can view charts without an Unaric account, if enabled.

Use Cases

Data Security - Prevents unauthorized changes or access to sensitive org data.
Controlled Collaboration - Give different departments access to their parts of the chart with appropriate permissions.
Limits Risk - Viewers can't accidentally move people, delete content, or expose confidential details.
Simple Team Management - Easy to scale chart collaboration across HR, leadership, and external consultants.
Flexible Access by Use Case - Tailor permissions for project-based collaboration, audits, or leadership reviews.
