Duplicate Org Charts
Quickly create copies of existing org charts for reuse, scenario planning, or version control.
Feature Overview
The Duplicate Org Chart feature allows users to quickly generate a copy of an existing org chart, preserving its structure, layout, and (some) data. It is designed for:
- Reusing templates
- Exploring alternate organizational designs
- Archiving versions of a chart without modifying the original
Feature Breakdown
One-Click Duplication - Use the "Duplicate chart" button to instantly create a copy of your chart.
Preserves Employee Structure - Hierarchies, reporting lines, and role assignments are retained in the duplicated chart.
Retains Layout/Positioning - The visual placement of employee cards is carried over to avoid rework.
Does Not Copy Custom Fields - According to Unaric docs, custom fields are not duplicated across charts.
Connection Fields Are Copied - Connection fields (e.g., dotted-line relationships) are duplicated into the new chart.
Editable After Duplication - The duplicate becomes an independent chart - freely editable without impacting the original.
Benefits
Saves Time: Eliminates the need to manually recreate charts from scratch.
Supports Scenario Planning: Test out organizational changes (e.g., reorgs, mergers) without altering your live chart.
Enables Template Reuse: Use an existing department or region as a model for new teams.
Supports Version Control: Archive snapshots of charts before big structural changes.
Ideal for Multiple Stakeholders: Share different versions of charts with execs or department leads for feedback.
