Connection Field Customization

The connection fields let you visually map different types of employee relationships - like direct, advisory, or cross-functional - using solid, dashed, or dotted lines.

Purpose and Usage

Connection fields let you define the type of relationship between two employees and control how that connection is represented visually in the chart

Available Line Styles

You can choose among three styles to indicate different reporting dynamics:

1. Solid line for direct reporting relationships (e.g., manager to direct report)
2. Dashed line for temporary or advisory roles
3. Dotted line for secondary or cross-functional reporting

Custom Appearance

When you create a connection field, you're prompted to name the field (e.g. “Project Lead” or “Advisory”), select a line color, and choose whether it should show on the org chart (via a checkbox)

Visibility and Shareability

By default, connection field data is included in shareable links, ensuring that viewers can see these relationships unless visibility is manually disabled

Profile Configuration

Once defined, connection fields can be assigned per employee in their profile – under the “Connections” tab – and can be edited or removed as needed to keep the org chart up to date
